Revolutionizing Education: The Eduten Platform Shows Massive Impact in Math Learning Results Across Mongolia

Press release — June 12, 2023

Revealing pilot results in the closing ceremony A 12-week research pilot project, jointly conducted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Mongolia (MoES) and Eduten, has demonstrated significant improvements in both teaching and learning outcomes. The pilot shows Eduten’s excellent fitness with the Mongolian schools and education system.

The Eduten platform was evaluated through a math assessment that was developed in partnership with Mongolian Institute for Education Research (MNIER), Education Evaluation Center (EEC), and Eduten. The students using Eduten received 22% more improvement to their learning outcomes compared to the control group. This result is especially impressive considering that the control group received additional weekly math practice and training during the pilot period.

The feedback from students, teachers, school management, and parents echoed this positive outlook. 94% of students reported an improved understanding of math lessons while 92% felt that Eduten supported the independent development of mathematical knowledge and skills. Teachers expressed a satisfaction rate of 87% with Eduten’s effectiveness in supporting mathematics education in their classrooms. The platform's value in easing teachers' workload was also highlighted and the teachers expressed strong support for the wider use of Eduten with most challenges identified in school digital infrastructure readiness. The education leaders expressed an 89% rating for Eduten’s impact on improving the quality of education and its alignment with the national curriculum. Their backing for further use of the Eduten platform was nearly unanimous.

The Eduten platform's positive impact across varying regions and socio-economic conditions was consistent and clear. These findings show that Eduten is ready to serve as the catalyst for a wide digital transformation of the Mongolian education system.

“A pilot project of the Eduten digital math platform introduced by Turku university was successfully carried out as an integral part of Mongolian primary math curriculum. I am extremely proud to see that the digital learning platform can support students to find joy in learning math. Moreover, I am excited that the Eduten team platform can be enriched with endogenous math content and ethnomathematics jointly with the Eduten team and experts of Turku university in Finland.”
